Welcome to St. Vincent Ferrer High School! We are excited that you are considering Ferrer for your daughter's high school experience. Below, you will find information about our admissions process for incoming freshmen and transfer students.

INCOMING FRESHMEN ADMISSIONS

Applying to Ferrer Is Easy!

St. Vincent Ferrer High School does not require a separate application.

To ensure that your daughter's application materials are sent to Ferrer for consideration, please include St. Vincent Ferrer High School as one of your three school choices when registering for the TACHS exam.

ADMISSIONS TIMELINE

1. Register for the TACHS Exam

All students interested in applying to Ferrer for Grade 9 should register to take the TACHS exam.

2. List St. Vincent Ferrer as a School Choice

Please list St. Vincent Ferrer High School (TACHS Code #212) as one of your three school choices to ensure that your TACHS scores are sent to Ferrer. Ferrer considers all three school choices for admission and scholarship opportunities.

3. Applicant Records Are Submitted

Students' academic records (applicant records) for Grades 6, 7, and 8 are compiled by their Catholic grade schools and sent to the three high schools listed on the TACHS exam in December.

Students who do not attend a Catholic grade school should contact the TACHS office at the Archdiocese of New York at 212-371-1011.

4. Admissions Decisions and Notifications

Catholic high schools receive TACHS scores in late December and send letters to applicants in January. 

5. Ferrer Scholars and Honors Program

Selection for the Ferrer Scholars and Honors Program, our merit-based scholarship program, is based on TACHS scores, student interviews, grade-school academic records, and conduct reports.

Students selected for scholarships will be contacted by Ferrer in January.

TRANSFER STUDENT ADMISSIONS

St. Vincent Ferrer High School has a limited number of transfer openings each year. We understand that circumstances beyond a student's control may lead a family to consider a change of schools. Transfer requests, including requests for admission to Grade 12, are considered on a case-by-case basis.

As a college preparatory school, Ferrer offers a challenging academic program. Students should have successfully completed the necessary coursework at their previous school to be prepared for the demands of our curriculum.

HOW TO INQUIRE ABOUT A TRANSFER

Families interested in a possible transfer to Ferrer should submit the following materials:

  • A copy of your daughter's report cards from the last two years.

  • A cover sheet with your contact information.

  • A brief statement explaining the reason for the potential transfer, including the name of her current or previous school.

  • If your daughter previously applied to Ferrer and was accepted, please include that information.
